Description

 

This in house 2 days Level 3 OFQUAL RQF First Aid at Work plus F Requalification training course  complies with the guidelines and criteria as defined by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) in respect of the 1981 (First Aid) Regulations and also meets the requirements of the Forestry Commission First Aid at Work Policy.  This  Forestry First Aid (+F), course has been designed to provide the knowledge and competence for a learner to deal with emergency first aid situations in a forestry/agricultural environment. Delegates will learn the skills and knowledge to provide  First Aid treatment to their casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner.    The topics covered in this course are in accordance with current guidelines published by the Resuscitation Council (UK).

 

 

Duration

 

This FAW training course is taught for 14 hours over 2 days and consists of theoretical and practical sessions. This 14 hours FAW training course can also be spread over a maximum of 6 weeks, ensuring that each session is a minimum of two hours (subject to extra cost).  The class ratio for this qualification is a maximum of 12 learners to 1 Trainer/Assessor.

  • Recap on primary survey
  • Recap on secondary assessment
  • Fractures
  • Soft tissue injuries to ligaments and muscle
  • Head  injuries including Concussion, Skull Fracture and Cerebral Compression
  • Spinal injuries
  • Chest injuries
  • Abdominal injuries
  • Specialised burn injuries
  • Eye injuries
  • Poisoning
  • Anaphylaxis and auto injector training
  • Heart Attack
  • Stroke
  • Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Hyperthermia
  • Hypothermia



Forestry First Aid course content


 

  • Identify how to plan for a first aid emergency
  • Identify how to manage an unresponsive casualty when assistance is more than 30 minutes away
  • Demonstrate how to control catastrophic bleeding using:

• Direct pressure

• Haemostatic dressings

• Tourniquets

  • Manage a casualty suffering from hypovolaemic shock
  • Recognise a casualty with a crush injury
  • Identify how to administer first aid for a casualty suffering a crush injury who has been:

• Crushed for up to 15 minutes

• Crushed for over 15 minutes

  • Recognise hypothermia
  • Identify how to administer first aid to a casualty suffering from hypothermia
  • Recognise suspected Lyme disease
  • Identify how to administer first aid for a tick bite
  • Identify how to prevent a tick bite

OFQUAL regulated RQF  Level 3  First Aid at Work Plus F Requalification course  certificates  lasting 3 years will be issued subject to successful completion of the course by the delegate.


  

Important Information

 

Please note that it is a requirement that candidates must be at least 16 years of age and physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline and must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment.

 

Candidates should have good English literacy and numeracy skills to understand the course and to complete the assessments.

 

Please also note that ID will need to be checked at the outset of the course for candidate verification process.


  • The training room should be quiet and of appropriate size.
  • Staff should be off work and not expected to be on duty.
  • Staff attending should remain on the course for the entire duration of the training course..
