Anaphylaxis and Epi - pen training course


 

 

Description 

 

An Anaphylactic shock, or anaphylaxis, is a life-threatening, serious allergic reaction to an allergen such as food substances or insect stings and if it is not treated appropriately, it can be fatal. Therefore it is very important that the First Aider is able to recognise and differentiate between mild to moderate allergic reactions and the potentially life-threatening anaphylactic reactions immediately. This course is designed to help and assist First Aiders to enable them to recognise, manage and treat anaphylaxis safely and effectively. The topics covered in this course are in accordance with current guidelines published by the Resuscitation Council (UK).

  • Types of Auto injector and their usage
  • Basic Life Support
  • Primary Survey
  • Agonal Gasping
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • AED Awareness  training
  • Recovery Position
  • Accident/Incident Reporting
  • RIDDOR 2013

Assessment

 

Assessment is ongoing by the instructor.

 

 

Certification

 

A HSE compliant certificate of course completion from MEDISAFE TRAINING  lasting three years will be emailed within 48 hours to the lead person subject to successful completion of the course by the delegate. Hard copy certificates can be provided at additional cost per certificate.

 

 

Important Information

 

Please note that it is a requirement that candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline and must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment.

 

Candidates should have good English literacy and numeracy skills to understand the course and to complete the assessments.

 

Please also note that  ID will need to be checked at the outset of the course for candidate verification process.


  • The training room should be quiet and of appropriate size.
  • Staff should be off work and not expected to be on duty.
  • Staff attending should remain on the course for the entire duration of the training course.
